Emergency out of hours immigration application process

Your emergency application with the supporting documents should be sent to the Immigration team via the asylum out of hours e-mail address asylum-out-of-hours@legalaid.gsi.gov.uk

  • The Immigration team notify the provider via e-mail of their decision and allocate a reference number, e.g. OOH/000001.
  • The provider should then upload the application onto CCMS as soon as possible, quoting the reference number provided by the Immigration team in the Merits assessment.
  • Once the application has been submitted, the date granted will be backdated by the LAA to the date of decision authorised under the reference number given by the Immigration team.
  • You should then continue the case (i.e. uploading the substantive amendment and means information) on to CCMS and the case continues on CCMS, including all amendments etc.

Quoting the reference number on the Merits Report when uploading the application through CCMS allows the LAA to reflect the date of emergency grant on the certificate.
