E Mail Process
The LAA intends to keep the process as simple as possible to ensure as little extra work for everyone involved.
Any bill to be submitted should be sent via email to CIS-SFE@Justice.gov.uk
Within the email you should attach your bill (Claim 1, Claim 1A, Claim 2, POA 1 etc), any disbursement vouchers, fee notes ledgers, bill of cost or evidence for that case only.
One email per bill submission. Please do not submit multiple bills in any email unless they relate to the same certificated case.
We will accept all documents for the bill as single scan or split into multiple attachments but please ensure the overall size of the email is below 20MB.
As part of the email process we will accept paper appeals, correspondence, admin1’s and any submissions that would have previously been posted into the Hub.
To assist with screening the submissions at receipt firms should indicate Case reference number and client surname in the email subject header.
If your bill relates to an agreed High Cost Contract case (HCF or HCC), Judicial Review or Clinical Negligence matter it would also assist if this detail was included within the email header.
For example; ABCDEFEI1234/A/B/1 – ‘SMITH’ (Judicial Review)
Frequently Asked Questions
What do we do if the LAA require a full file of papers? Where should this be sent? | The LAA uses Secure File Exchange (SFE) for the submissions of electronic files of papers. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/secure-file-exchange At this stage firms with paper only files should scan in and attach only the evidence for attendance notes for work above 3 hours alongside the standard evidence as per the Electronic Handbook (court orders, vouchers, ledgers etc). We will try to avoid requesting for a full file where possible. Please do not post a file of papers unless directed to by a caseworker. |
Does this process apply to bill previously assessed by the court that are now processed by the LAA? | Yes.
